Welcome To The Tunxion - News Lounge,

I thank you for visiting The Tunxion - News Lounge. This site was inspired by two of the most pioneering sites in my opinion, POPURLS and Don't Meet Your Heroes. I don't consider myself to be a web designer. My background is in video editing and motion graphics, but I was so moved by the concept of their sites that I decided to give it a shot.

I honestly didn't think I could produce a website of any kind; however my mind would not allow me to rest until a news aggregator site of some sort was completed. So my journey began which included scouring the net for answers to questions I didn't know to ask and conversing with great people like Maurice Wright, Rik Catlow, Lea Alcantara, and Chris Campbell, for guidance toward my goal. After months of sleepless nights, it somehow all fell into place; and The Tunxion - News Lounge was born.

So exactly what is The Tunxion?

The word "tunxion"(pronounced TUNK-shen) is a slang term, which is sparingly used in South Jamaica, Queens, NY, to denote something that is above and beyond what most would consider being the best. Michael Jordan, Bugatti Automobiles, Google, and even the W. M. Keck Observatory are or were all clearly the tunxion in their respective arenas. What better word to use to describe my aspirations when creating a site like the News Lounge.

And the News Lounge?

The News Lounge is in a very small, but growing class of its own, called online aggregators.

An aggregator, news aggregator or feed reader is software that uses a web feed to retrieve syndicated web content from weblogs, podcasts, vlogs and mainstream mass media websites according to the popular online encyclopedia, Wikipedia.

Wikipedia further explains that aggregators reduce the time and effort needed to regularly check websites individually for updates, creating a unique, customized information space for yourself or a "personal newspaper." Aggregators are able to check for new content at user-determined intervals and retrieve the update.

So what does this all really mean?

The Tunxion is an online aggregator which features a select group of the world's most popular websites alongside some of the most cutting-edge information sites. Information from those websites' web feeds are constantly updated and retrieved by the News Lounge for you to get the most up-to-date information from these news sources without having to check them individually first.

Of course I want you to visit the featured sites for further investigation into your topics of interest. I just provide guests with the most recent headlines so you are aware of the most current news available on these sites. The Tunxion would like to continue to promote these sites. All of these sites together make up "The Tunxion" or what I consider to be the category best.

The Tunxion and aggregators like it are growing around the Web thanks to people's thirst for the latest updates on a variety of topics. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable here as you gather information from your favorite featured sites. Your feedback and my coffee supply will help to ensure that your experience on the site truly is “The Tunxion".
